Printing Artwork
Using a template supplied on the CD, or recreate a similar template in your computer program. Print using the darkest settings available on your laser printer. (Compare our sample template with a print from your laser printer to ensure that you have your settings optimized.) |
| |
Darkening Print
In order to make the print as dark as possible you must spray your vellum print with a lacquer matt spray, this is available at most art and craft shops. Apply an even coat and allow to dry for one minute. |
| |
Laying Up Artwork
Place your trimmed vellum onto one of the glass processing plates. |
| |
InstaPlate Sachet
Remove an InstaPlate sachet from it's light proof box (Do not expose it to UV light, for example do not use in a room where strong sunlight enters) |
| |
Line Up sachet
Place the InstaPlate sachet on top of the artwork with the word InstaPlate right reading. |
| |
Assembly
Place the second sheet of glass on top and slide on a wheeled clamp. |
| |
Clamping
Stand assembly on end and slide on second wheeled clamp, the polymer will spread uniformly throughout the InstaPlate sachet. |
| |
Stamp Backing Exposure
Wheel the assembly into the stamp maker and start the countdown timer for the exposure. You can control the thickness of the stamp backing by increasing or decreasing this first exposure. The recommended time for a back exposure is 35 to 45 seconds. |
| |
Turn Over Assembly for front exposure
As soon as timer sounds remove glass assembly and turn over for front exposure. (the timer has 3 timers built in and can be set for each exposure) |
| |
Front Exposure
This next exposure of 2 minutes 15 seconds will solidify your stamp artwork, all black areas will remain as a liquid polymer. |
| |
Open Sachet
Once the front exposure is finished remove the sachet from the glass assembly and place so the word 'InstaPlate' is wrong reading. Using a sharp knife cut through the top film around the edge of the sachet. |
| |
Peel Cover Sheet Away
Peel the cover sheet away to reveal the stamps and remaining liquid polymer. |
| |
Stamp Washout
Place the open sachet in washout solution and use the full face of the brush in small circular motions to get amongst the stamp detail. Once the polymer is washed away rinse under running water. |
| |
Hardening Stamps
To harden the stamps and remove any tackiness place into a tray of post exposure solution and expose in the stamp maker for a minimum of 10 minutes. After exposure rinse under running water and pat dry with absorbent paper. Placing in the sun for 10 minutes will assist with ink pickup as this removes moisture from the polymer. |
| |
Separating Stamps
Once dry trim around each stamp carefully using a pair of scissors.
| |
Mounting
Self inking and hand stamps include double sided tape for mounting the stamp die. It is recommended that talcum powder is dusted on areas of exposed adhesive after mounting. |
